Actor and producer Gordon Oliver died at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles Jan. 26 of emphysema. He was 84.

Born in Los Angeles, Oliver began his career as an actor in 1935. He appeared in some 25 motion pictures, including “Jezebel,” “Brother Rat,” “Blondie,” “The Spiral Staircase,” “Stations West” and “The Las Vegas Story.”

He co-hosted “Douglas Fairbanks Presents” and “Mobile Theatre” for television. He served as an executive for Four Star Films, and was executive producer for the TV series “Peter Gunn,” “Mr. Lucky” and “Mr. Adams and Eve.”

He was the producer of dramas based on President John F. Kennedy’s Pulitzer Prizewinning book “Profiles in Courage” and served as executive producer of the award-winning “The Bob Hope Chrysler Theatre.” He also was the executive producer of “It Takes a Thief,” starring Robert Wagner.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elsa; his son, actor Angus Duncan; and his daughter, Elsa Lambert.
