For the New York City premiere of her new movie Amsterdam, Margot Robbie has exchanged peak #Barbiecore for ethereal Chanel, looking less doll-like and more angelic bridal in bright white. The look pairs a strapless, bandeau top with two tiers of floral lace skirt that should be giving me grandma's kitchen curtain vibes and yet somehow doesn't.
The sheer skirt is very on trend, but the double layers give it a slightly more modest touch than most of what we've been seeing on the red carpet lately. Also on trend are Robbie's silver platform shoes, just barely visible beneath the flowery hem, which are the only real modern element to the whole look.
Intriguingly, Robbie's excessively simple styling included practically no jewellery besides tiny stud earrings, soft waves for her centre-parted hair, and a classically “natural” beat. Even her nails are short and nude. She looks stunning, of course. As a brand ambassador, Robbie wears a lot of Chanel, recently starring in an ad—excuse me, short film—for the brand's Gabrielle Chanel fragrance.
Later in the evening, Robbie exchanged the sheer skirt for a pair of baggy jeans, presumably in order to more comfortably sign autographs and pose for pics with fans.
Perhaps most important, Margot Robbie appears completely glowing and happy in these photos. I hope this means that whatever was going on with Cara Delevingne hasn't left her broken or anything.
